CONCERT – Saturday, April 23, 2022, 7:00pm
ELIGIBILITY: Auditions are open to instrumental students through grade 12, who are residents of Ontario Seneca, Monroe, Wayne, Livingston, Orleans, Genesee, Wyoming or Yates counties. Note: pianists, vocalists, and previous winners are not eligible.
** Piano accompaniment is required for audition**
This year's winner will have the opportunity to perform a solo with the Finger Lakes Symphony Orchestra during their Spring Concert on April 23, 2022 and receive a cash award of $200. In the event of multiple winners, a cash award of $200 will be awarded to each winner. Auditions will be held on Saturday March 12, 2022 at the United Church of Canandaigua, 11 East Gibson St. Canandaigua, NY 14424.
Please prepare any one movement from a concerto or a composition for solo instrument and orchestra. Eligible applicants will be notified by phone or email to arrange an audition time during the week prior to auditions. Piano accompaniment is required for audition. Please provide your own accompanist and one copy of your music for the judges. Applicants will be given a maximum of eight minutes including any setup and tear down necessary for the audition.

*Note on audition repertoire selection: Due to time and cost restraints, orchestral accompaniment parts must be available at reasonable cost from a music publisher or rental agency in the US. Your school or private music teacher should be able to assist you in verifying this if necessary. Please check into this ahead of time. The FLSO has the right to cancel a performance or request that a different piece be performed if orchestral parts are not easily accessible or too cost prohibitive.
Competition procedure: Performing from memory is preferred, but not mandatory. Please arrive at least 15 min. prior to your audition time. You will be provided a warm-up room. Competition results are final. Candidates will be notified in writing within a week of auditions.
