Finger Lakes Symphony Orchestra - a Community Orchestra in the Finger Lakes region of New York State

History of the FLSO

The Finger Lakes Symphony Orchestra was formed in the fall of 1971 as the Wayne County Symphony with approximately 45 members. As membership grew to represent a larger geographical area, the group incorporated in the mid-1970's under its current name. Rehearsals moved from Marion High School to several other schools, and then to the current rehearsal location at the Red Jacket High School.

FLSO performance venues include area colleges and high schools, wineries, lakeside at the Geneva Chamber of Commerce, lawn concerts at the Ontario Town Hall, area churches, the Smith Opera House, and the Sodus Bay Lighthouse. The current roster of 50-plus members is comprised of a very diverse group including professionals of many vocations, musicians, and students in the Greater Rochester and Finger Lakes areas.
